McDonald's grants available for teachers
Rick and Gail Kuehl, owners of McDonald's restaurants in Hays, Russell, WaKeeney and Colby, will provide $5,000 to the McDonald's Classroom Grants Program, founded in 1988, for the 2013-14 school year.
Any preschool through 12th-grade teacher whose classroom is located in one of 15 northwest Kansas counties is eligible to apply for a grant. Those counties are Ellis, Gove, Graham, Lincoln, Logan, Ness, Osborne, Phillips, Rawlins, Rooks, Rush, Russell, Sheridan, Thomas and Trego. Applications can be downloaded online at www.mckansas.com with one of four extensions -- /colby, /hays, /russell or /wakeeney. Applications are due by April 8.
